Riyadh: The King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) in Riyadh, in cooperation with the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts, is hosting the official ceremony of the 13th Arab Manuscript Day. The day was adopted as an annual event in 2013, and in 2016 it was officially recognized by the Conference of Arab Ministers of Culture during its 20th session.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the program includes introductory films, the signing of cooperation agreements, and specialized exhibitions showcasing the journey of the Arabic manuscript, its preservation tools, and its historical legacy.
By hosting this event, KFCRIS reaffirms its mission of safeguarding manuscript heritage and boosting its role as an integral part of the cultural identity of the Arab nation. Since its founding in 1983, the center has prioritized manuscript preservation, establishing itself as one of the world's leading references in the field. It holds more than 30,000 original manuscripts and over 150,000 photographed copies preserved in collaboration with major global libraries and museums. Its achievements also extend to processing, sterilizing, and restoring more than 330,000 books, manuscripts, and documents, further underscoring its pioneering role as a dynamic scientific and cultural platform dedicated to passing on this heritage to future generations.
