Joint Statement Condemns Iranian Attacks on Regional States

Riyadh: Ministers of foreign affairs from several Arab and Islamic countries convened in Riyadh to issue a joint statement condemning Iranian attacks. The meeting included representatives from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Kuwait, the Republic of Lebanon, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Syrian Arab Republic, the Republic of Trkiye, and the United Arab Emirates.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministers discussed the Iranian attacks on the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Republic of Trkiye. They affirmed their condemnation of the Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting residential areas and civilian infrastructure, including oil facilities, desalination plants, airports, residential buildings, and diplomatic premises. The ministers emphasized that such attacks could not be justified under any pretext and stressed the right of states to defend themselves in accordance with Article (51) of the United Nations Charter.

The ministers called on Iran to immediately cease its attacks and underscored the importance of respecting international law, international humanitarian law, and the principles of good neighborliness as a first step toward ending the escalation. Emphasizing diplomacy as a means to resolve the crisis, they stated that future relations with Iran depend on respecting the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.

The ministers highlighted the necessity for Iran to comply with Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which demands an immediate halt to all attacks and the cessation of support, financing, and arming of affiliated militias in Arab countries. They also called on Iran to refrain from any actions that could obstruct international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz or threaten maritime security in Bab al-Mandab.

The participants reaffirmed their support for Lebanon's security, stability, and territorial integrity. They emphasized the importance of activating Lebanese state sovereignty over all its territories and condemned Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

The ministers committed to ongoing consultation and coordination to monitor developments and formulate common positions. They aim to adopt necessary measures to protect their security, stability, and sovereignty, seeking to halt the Iranian attacks on their territories.
