Jeddah: Date markets across Jeddah are experiencing heightened commercial activity as the holy month of Ramadan approaches, with increased demand from citizens and residents. Vendors have made early preparations by offering a wide selection of premium dates sourced from various regions and governorates across the Kingdom, as dates remain a staple on Ramadan iftar banquets.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during a field tour of several markets and retail outlets, there was strong purchasing activity and a broad availability of varieties and products. Retailers have organized dedicated display areas featuring packages in multiple sizes, including small, medium, and large cardboard boxes, to accommodate different consumer needs.
The market's vitality reflects diverse consumer preferences. Many shoppers favor fresh or pressed Sukkari dates, while others prefer twisted Sukkari, Khalas, or Safri varieties. These dates are sourced from farms in Qassim, Al-Ahsa, Al-Kharj, and Bisha, providing consumers with a wide range of choices and reinforcing the market's seasonal momentum.
