Jeddah Hosts First International Conference on Eye Surgery

Jeddah:A specialized international scientific conference focused on ophthalmology and eye surgery is currently underway, with the event attracting over 1,400 participants. According to Saudi Press Agency, this three-day conference, organized by the Saudi Society of Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery (SSCRS), is the first of its kind and aims to facilitate discussions on the latest advancements in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery. The conference features 40 speakers from various parts of the world and the Middle East, engaging in 12 panel discussions and 45 workshops led by prominent specialists. These sessions cover a variety of topics, including innovative diagnostic and treatment methods for corneal diseases, new developments in cataract and refractive surgery, and updates on surgical techniques and instruments. Key topics also include advances in dry eye treatment, therapeutic eye drops, LASIK techniques, laser-based procedures, and the different types of lenses used in eye surgery. The ga thering serves as a significant platform for exchanging expertise and discussing groundbreaking scientific research and its clinical applications. Dr. Waseem Abdulaziz Aalam, President of SSCRS, highlighted that the conference aims to boost the scientific knowledge of physicians and specialists, support research, and provide a venue for educational conferences and awareness initiatives. Additionally, the society focuses on enhancing community awareness about corneal diseases and cataracts, ensuring that accurate and relevant information is available to the public.
