Jeddah: The Consulate General of Japan in Jeddah organized the fourth edition of the Japanese Speech Contest, hosted by the King Fahad Public Library, in coordination with the Saudi Association of Japan Graduates and Associates (SAJGA) and the Japanese community in Jeddah. The event was held as part of the celebration marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and as a continuation of efforts to promote cultural exchange.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Consul General of Japan in Jeddah Daisuke Yamamoto expressed his gratitude to the staff of King Fahad Public Library in Jeddah and SAJGA for their continued cooperation for the third consecutive year in organizing the event. He hoped the contest would allow all participants to enhance cultural ties between the two countries and improve their Japanese language skills.
Japanese calligraphy artist Koka Awazu presented a live demonstration of Japanese writing, during which many attendees, including contestants, took part in trying their hand at Japanese calligraphy.
Contestants in the beginner category delivered speeches on 'similarities and differences in life, culture, and education in Japan and the Kingdom.'
