Japan supports Egypt’s universal health coverage program with USD 330 mln

International Cooperation Minister Rania Mashat and Japanese Ambassador in Cairo Oka Hiroshi signed on Wednesday exchanged letters to fund project to develop policies of the universal health coverage program with 44 billion yens (USED 330 million).

During the ceremony, Mashat said that the project aims at enhancing the state’s efforts to develop health care services and providing them to all citizens.

She also hailed the deep-rooted relations with Japan and efforts exerted in all development fields that coincide with the state’s vision including implementing the goals of the 2030 sustainable development.

While Oka said that Tokyo will continue supporting Cairo’s efforts to reach universal health coverage program.

He noted that during President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to Japan in 2016, the Egyptian and Japanese leaders agreed on implementing the universal health coverage program in Egypt.
