ITFC Chief Holds Bilateral Talks in Washington

Eng. Hani Salem Sonbol, the Chief Executive of the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), held bilateral talks today with Republic of the Gambia Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Seedy Keita on the sidelines of the 2024 annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C. During the meeting, both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing cooperation and promoting economic growth initiatives in sectors such as energy, agriculture, and sustainable development in the Gambia. In a separate meeting, Eng. Sonbol met with African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) President Prof. Benedict Oramah. Their discussions centered on strengthening collaboration through the Arab-Africa Trade Bridges Program to drive sustainable economic growth in Africa and facilitate trade finance initiatives among the member countries of the IsDB. The Arab-Africa Trade Bridges Program aims to develop trade partn erships between Arab and African countries, reinforce existing collaborations, and increase trade by fostering cooperation among trade and investment support institutions.
