Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr Amr Talaat on Monday said Egypt’s geographical location at the heart of the world linking Asia and Europe is making the country a hub for the transit of world underwater cables with 13 cables transiting through it.
Efforts are now focusing on setting up five more cables, that are transferring up to 90% of data in Asia and Europe, added Talaat during a symposium, themed “Chances For Investment In Information Technology And Infrastructure In Egypt,” held as part of Expo 2020 Dubai’s activities.
The minister probed success factors in the IT sector and investment chances in the country in light of implementing Egypt’s digital strategy, which is based on boosting digital transformation, honing digital skills and sponsoring technological innovation.
Meanwhile, Talaat visited the Egyptian pavilion in the exhibition.
