Pristina: The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance yesterday concluded the final rounds of the International Quran Competition in the Balkans (memorization, recitation, and tajweed), held in the Kosovan capital, Pristina. The event was organized by the ministry, represented by the Religious Attach© at the Saudi Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to Saudi Press Agency, a total of 142 male and female contestants from across the Balkans and Europe qualified for the finals, competing in five categories: full Quran memorization; memorization of 10 parts, five parts, and two parts; and tajweed recitation of five parts. Participants represented a range of age groups and were evaluated based on rigorous standards emphasizing performance quality and proper recitation.
This edition's contestants came from 22 countries, including Kosovo, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Turkiye, Bulgaria, Greece, the Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, Georgia, and Romania. The broad regional participation reflects the competition's growing stature and recognition among international Quran memorization and recitation contests.
