IsDBI Discusses Technical Assistance to Create Enabling Environment for Islamic Finance in Mauritania

A delegation from the Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) has recently concluded a scoping mission to the Central Bank of Mauritania (CBM) to discuss technical assistance for enabling the implementation of Islamic finance in Mauritania. The Deputy Governor of CBM, Boumedienne Taya, warmly welcomed the IsDBI team, which included Dr. Abdallahi Mohamed, Senior Financial Product Development Specialist, and Dr. Abozer Mohamed, Senior Islamic Finance Specialist.

This visit was prompted by a request from CBM for technical assistance in establishing a supportive environment for the implementation of Islamic banking and finance in Mauritania. CBM aims to develop regulatory, supervisory, and governance frameworks that align with its objectives.

Over the course of two days, the IsDBI team held meetings with various departments of CBM and engaged with other stakeholders to address the issues and challenges associated with the development of Islamic banking and finance in Mauritania.
