Algiers: The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have signed an operational framework agreement to enhance cooperation in fragile and conflict-affected regions. The agreement was finalized on the sidelines of the IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Algiers.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement aims to support multi-year programs that take into account the specific dynamics of conflict and the impacts of climate change. It is designed to improve coordination between ICRC missions and the regional offices of IsDB. The collaboration will focus on developing initiatives under the Tadamon platform and other suitable financing mechanisms, while also strengthening local response capacities and safeguarding essential civilian infrastructure and services.
This partnership between IsDB and ICRC introduces an innovative model for achieving impact in high-risk environments. By linking early intervention with long-term investment, the agreement seeks to institutionalize an incentive-based financing model, offering a pioneering approach to addressing challenges in fragile and conflict-affected areas.
