Iraqi army and the Global Coalition against ISIS in Iraq have launched an operation to track ISIS members in Al Aith area in northern Governorate of Salah Al-Din, following an ISIS attack that claimed a French soldier.
An Iraqi army spokesperson said that ground forces from the army and the international coalition, supported by air cover, carried out a large-scale operation to clear the island of ISIS outposts.
A police source in Salah Al-Din Governorate said earlier that French forces, in conjunction with the Counter-Terrorism Service in Kirkuk, carried out an airdrop to inspect the outcome of the ISIS attack, adding that ISIS militants opened fire on the landing forces.
