IOC’s chief hails NCW’s efforts on women’s employment

Secretary General of the International Organization of Employers (IOE) Roberto Suárez hailed the National Council for Women (NCW)’s efforts to empower women in employment.

During his meeting with NCW President Maya Morsi on Tuesday12/4/2022, Suárez asserted the importance of the economic and social empowerment of women in strengthening their independence.

On her part, the NCW chairwoman said the Egyptian government seeks to remove all obstacles in the way of giving a greater space for women in the labor market.

She added the NCW’s Women Business Development Center (WBDC) works on supporting women in the labor market, through offering high-quality programs that would help them grow their small and medium-sized enterprises.

Morsi explained that the Egyptian government gives top priority to the integration of women into all sectors, citing the launching of the “Closing the Gender Gap Accelerator”, which serves as a private-public platform for collaboration to reach gender parity.

She concluded that the Egyptian government would continue its strenuous efforts to address climate change in parallel with women’s empowerment in various areas, pointing to Egypt’s hosting of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh in November.
