The foreign ministers of Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, the United Kingdom and Canada expressed grave concern over legislation currently under consideration by Israel, aimed at revoking the privileges and immunity of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), forbidding any contact between Israeli government institutions, officials and UNRWA, and prohibiting any UNRWA presence in the occupied territories. In a joint statement issued today, the ministers urge the Israeli government to abide by its international obligations, keep UNRWA's privileges and immunity untouched, and live up to its responsibility to facilitate full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian assistance, and the provision of sorely needed basic services to the civilian population.
