International Dates Council Expands Agricultural Ties with China Through Seedling Initiative

General

Riyadh: The International Dates Council has launched an initiative to provide date palm seedlings to the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS). This move activates a strategic cooperation agreement signed in November 2025, focusing on advancing research and technological innovation in the tropical crop sector.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi-based council aims to strengthen diplomatic and scientific ties while supporting sustainable development in the global palm industry through this initiative. The project, coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy, is intended to pave the way for inviting China to join the council as an associate member.

This partnership reflects the council's broader mission to establish global agricultural hubs and foster the exchange of technical expertise to modernize cultivation and production techniques.
