Riyadh: The Ministry of Interior has reinforced its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability by supporting afforestation initiatives, expanding green spaces, and participating in programs that raise awareness about preserving vegetation cover. These efforts are carried out through a specialized security sector tasked with enforcing environmental regulations and advancing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

According to Saudi Press Agency, at the ministry's pavilion at the World Defense Show, held in Riyadh from February 8 to 12, visitors can learn about its environmental initiatives, advanced and future technologies, and its role in safeguarding natural resources and monitoring environmental compliance.

In 2019, the ministry established the Special Forces for Environmental Security to protect the environment and enforce related regulations. Deployed across the Kingdom, the forces operate from 54 headquarters and centers, covering six administrative regions, eight royal reserves, and four nature reserves. Utilizing modern technologies, drones, and fixed-wing aircraft, they support rapid response, effective monitoring, and regulatory enforcement in coordination with relevant authorities, contributing to increased vegetation cover and the restoration of ecological balance nationwide.
