Interior Ministry Introduces Electronic ‘Absher Travel for Visitors’ Service

Riyadh:The Ministry of Interior has launched the 'Absher Travel for Visitors' service through the Absher app to assist Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals and other visitors entering the Kingdom via land border crossings. This initiative is in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourism, the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA), the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), the Insurance Authority, the General Directorate of Passports, and Public Security.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the new service aims to automate and facilitate entry procedures for travelers and vehicles by enabling them to complete necessary travel processes and requirements digitally before reaching the border. This includes registering traveler and vehicle details and obtaining vehicle insurance.

The Ministry of Interior has stated that the service will become mandatory for visitors six months post-launch. To utilize the service, visitors must access 'Absher Travel for Visitors' via the Absher app before their journey, select their nationality, input their mobile phone number and document type, and specify the border crossing and anticipated travel date. They must then complete the necessary traveler, vehicle, and insurance information.

This service is part of the Ministry's broader efforts to enhance the quality of electronic services for visitors to the Kingdom, aiming to improve their overall travel experience and streamline their entry through land border crossings.
