Jeddah: The cultural program of the second edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale, organized by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation under the theme "And All That Is in Between," continues at the Western Hajj Terminal of Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport, offering interactive workshops until May 25 that are drawing strong interest from art and traditional craft enthusiasts.
According to Saudi Press Agency, a workshop on wood decoration, focusing on historic Jeddah inscriptions, provided participants with a hands-on experience in the art of decoration inspired by Rawashin windows. Using traditional carving tools, they created artistic patterns that reflect the Hijazi architectural identity.
Another workshop, concentrated on crown decoration using egg tempera on wood, taught the traditional use of pigments in creating Rawashin patterns.
These workshops reflect the Islamic Arts Biennale's commitment to promoting Islamic arts as a means of cultural communication, expanding its reach, and bridging Islamic heritage with contemporary creativity.
