Intellectual Property Authority: Record 102% Increase in Individual Patent Applications

Riyadh: Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property announced today in its 2025 statistical report on intellectual property data significant leaps across various innovation protection indicators, reflecting the maturity of the regulatory environment and the rapid shift toward a knowledge-based economy in the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, at the forefront of the report's findings was a record 102% increase in patent applications submitted by individuals compared to the previous year. Regarding applications submitted from outside the Kingdom, the report highlighted that China led in design registration applications, with Chinese applications witnessing exceptional growth of 262%, while design certificates issued for applications from China increased by 235%.

Huawei topped the list of the most active entities, underscoring the Kingdom's position as an attractive and reliable environment for major global technology companies. The authority stressed that the report serves as a key reference for decision-makers, investors, and innovators to monitor the pace of innovation in the Kingdom and identify future opportunities across various intellectual property fields.
