Industry Ministry: Factories Receiving Environmental Permits Increased to 72%

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has announced that the number of factories that received environmental permits increased from 18% at the beginning of 2021 to 72% at the end of the second half of 2023.

According to the ministry, 7,239 factories received environmental permits, which are a prerequisite for being granted industrial licenses to practice activities with environmental impact.

This rise in numbers, the ministry said, reflects its efforts to protect the environment and improve sustainability in the industrial sector, where it is keen to provide factories with the facilities needed to obtain environmental permits, including coordination with competent authorities to reach solutions to any challenges they may face in this regard.

The ministry stressed that it will continue to work to see more factories endeavor to obtain environmental permits, to reach targets of environmental sustainability in the industrial sector, and urge factories that do not have environmental permits to complete the needed procedures, available on the website of the National Center for Environmental Compliance, and apply to obtain them.
