Riyadh: The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has announced the establishment of a non-profit lighting manufacturers association aimed at contributing to the development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's lighting products and solutions industry.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the step is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to empower non-profit organizations within the industrial and mining sectors, reflecting its conviction in their role in supporting economic and social development across the Kingdom.
The association aims to build national expertise in the design, manufacturing, and testing of lighting products and smart control systems. It also seeks to cultivate an innovation ecosystem, protect intellectual property rights, support scientific research and studies in cooperation with universities and academic institutions, and represent the Kingdom in local and international exhibitions.
Furthermore, the association seeks to enhance communication between investors and decision-makers, represent national manufacturers on technical and regulatory committees, contribute to the development of standards and technical regulations for lighting products, and assist factories in securing the quality certifications and international accreditations required for export markets.
It also aims to establish a comprehensive database to facilitate the exchange of information and technical expertise among manufacturers, as well as organize an annual lighting industry forum bringing together manufacturers, developers, consultants, and relevant government entities.
The establishment of this non-profit association aligns with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources' broader strategy to empower the non-profit sector, enhance its role in the industrial and mining ecosystems, and increase its direct contribution to the national GDP in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
