Jeddah: Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef visited the JBS facility in Jeddah, accompanied by Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) Eng. Majed Al-Argoubi. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to develop the food industries sector and enhance the local production ecosystem.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the minister was welcomed by Chief Executive Officer of JBS for the Middle East and North Africa William Barbosa, and Regional Chief Operations Officer Adel Imam. During the visit, Alkhorayef reviewed the production operations, toured the premises, and discussed various manufacturing and supply chain issues. He expressed a positive impression of the facility's readiness and ongoing expansion efforts.
JBS recently announced a significant expansion of its operations in the Kingdom, with a capital investment of SAR319 million allocated to its Jeddah facility. This investment aims to increase local production, enhance capabilities within the food industry, and support Saudi Arabia's position as a regional hub for halal food production and export, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
The expansion of the Jeddah facility is anticipated to contribute to the local economy by boosting production capacity, reinforcing local content, developing supply chains, creating new job opportunities, and supporting the localization of food industries. This initiative is expected to enhance food security and serve both local and regional markets.
MODON's involvement in the visit underscores the collaborative efforts between government entities and the private sector to develop the industrial environment, enable high-quality investments, and stimulate growth in priority sectors across Saudi Arabia.
