Industry Minister Launches Advanced Pharmaceuticals Factory to Boost Local Economy and Employment

Riyadh: Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef inaugurated an advanced pharmaceuticals factory, Bpharma, marking a significant advancement in the Kingdom’s pharmaceutical sector and supporting efforts to localize drug manufacturing and enhance supply chain efficiency. The project represents a national initiative with an initial investment of over SAR450 million, expected to exceed SAR650 million upon the completion of its second phase, indicating strong confidence in the sector’s growth.



According to Saudi Press Agency, the factory spans approximately 38,000 square meters and adheres to the highest engineering and operational standards. It features full automation and advanced technologies to ensure high production efficiency and strict quality controls. The facility includes advanced production lines for sterile products, initially capable of producing 250 million units annually, with plans to increase to over 450 million units in phase two. The product range will encompass critical care items, specialized medicines, and ophthalmic and respiratory products.



The project is expected to create 250 jobs in the first phase and approximately 600 upon completion of the second phase, with a strong focus on developing national talent through specialized training. This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s goals of localizing the pharmaceutical industry and enhancing national health security.
