Riyadh: Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef held a series of high-level meetings today with Minister of Health of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mustafa Kamal, Minister of Mines and Energy of the Republic of Colombia Edwin Palma Egea, Premier and Minister of Finance of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda David Burt, and Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Makhtar Diop, on the sidelines of the ninth edition of the Future Investment Initiative (FII9) Conference in Riyadh.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Alkhorayef's meeting with the Pakistani minister of health focused on enhancing industrial cooperation and reviewing the National Industrial Strategy to localize and develop the pharmaceutical sector for health and drug security in the Kingdom. They explored joint investment opportunities in the manufacturing of medicines and vaccines.
In discussions with the Colombian minister of mines and energy, Alkhorayef emphasized cooperation in the mining and minerals sector, highlighting opportunities for value chain integration between Saudi Arabia and Colombia. He also presented the Kingdom's Comprehensive Mining and Metals Strategy, which offers promising investment prospects across all stages of the mining process.
During his meeting with the managing director of IFC, Alkhorayef discussed frameworks for joint action and collaboration between the Future Minerals Forum hosted by the Kingdom and the World Bank Group. The focus was on promoting sustainable development in the global mining sector.
Alkhorayef's meeting with Burt involved discussions on enhancing cooperation in the industry and mining sectors, exploring investment opportunities, and highlighting the competitive advantages of Saudi Arabia's investment environment, including enablers and incentives for investors.
The minister extended invitations to the ministers to attend the fifth edition of the Future Minerals Forum, scheduled for January 13 to 15, 2026, in Riyadh. This event aims to unite policymakers, NGOs, investors, mining technology companies, and research institutions to develop innovative solutions for challenges in the mining and minerals sector, promoting long-term sustainability.
