Manama: Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef chaired the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation at the 56th meeting of the Industrial Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held virtually today under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Bahrain. According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting discussed several joint industrial topics among GCC states. Key discussions included developing a unified definition of the Gulf national product, completing the executive plan for goods subject to collective protection, and advancing the launch of the Gulf Industrial Platform with a focus on establishing a governance framework and ensuring data security. The meeting approved a recommendation to extend tariffs on iron products, endorsed digital transformation projects for the Technical Secretariat for Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade, and approved a mechanism for strengthening cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The 56th meeting of the Industrial Cooperation Committee also adopted the results of a study on joint Gulf industrial investment opportunities and recommended finalizing the study on critical basic products.
