The general industrial production quantities index decreased in the first half of this year by 3.34 percent to reach 89.19 points compared to 92.27 for the same period last year. The monthly report issued Thursday by the Department of Statistics indicated that the index decreased as a result of the decline in the production of manufacturing industries by 4.25 percent and electricity production by 0.43 percent, while extractive industries increased by 4.01 percent. In June 2023, the index retreated to 91.87 points compared to 94.89 for the same month of 2022, down 3.18 percent. The report attributed the monthly decrease to the production of manufacturing industries going down by 3.95 percent as well as electricity production by 0.79 percent, while extractive industries went up by 3.46 percent.
