Muscat: Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raisi met with Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi to discuss enhancing cooperation in counter-terrorism and maritime security.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting focused on strengthening the partnership between the IMCTC and the Sultanate of Oman. The discussions centered around countering terrorism, building capacities, and exchanging expertise to support regional and international efforts in addressing extremist threats and promoting security, stability, and peace.
Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi highlighted the coalition's activities and initiatives across its intellectual, media, counter-terrorist financing, and military domains. He emphasized the coalition's dedication to supporting member states in developing their institutional and human capabilities.
Additionally, Al-Moghedi elaborated on the IMCTC's Initiatives Fund, detailing its objectives and main areas of operation. The fund aims to support strategic initiatives prioritized by member states, helping them implement specialized programs and sustainable projects in various counter-terrorism fields.
The delegation also visited the Maritime Security Center in Oman, where they were informed about the center's mandate, operational responsibilities, and its mechanisms for monitoring and coordinating maritime activities. The visit underscored the center's role in enhancing maritime security and addressing potential risks and threats.
