Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Intensifies Awareness Campaigns to Curb Pollution, Protect Ecosystems

General

Riyadh: The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority has intensified its efforts to address environmental challenges by launching awareness campaigns aimed at reducing harmful environmental behaviors and raising awareness about the risks of pollution. These initiatives are designed to protect and sustain natural resources.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority warned of the cumulative impact of environmentally harmful practices, emphasizing that actions such as lighting fires in open areas or dumping waste in natural environments cause severe damage to soil and vegetation cover and weaken the ecosystem’s ability to regenerate and maintain balance.

It pointed out that pollution begins in the soil due to the infiltration of chemicals and solid pollutants, which deteriorate the soil’s biological characteristics and disrupt its role as a host for plant life. The damage also extends to groundwater and worsens as pollutants reach the air, with toxic gases released from burning or decomposing waste, resulting in pollution that affects both human health and nature.

The authority stressed that environmental protection can only be achieved through compliance with regulations and guidelines, reiterating that cooperation between individuals and relevant entities forms the foundation for minimizing damage and creating a lasting impact that supports the stability of ecosystems across the Kingdom.
