IDC and FAO Explore Strengthening Technical and Logistical Cooperation

Riyadh: Executive Director of the International Dates Council (IDC) Princess Sarah bint Bandar bin Abdulaziz convened a bilateral meeting with Dr. Abdulhakim Elwaer, Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for the Near East and North Africa. The discussion took place on the sidelines of the fifth session of the IDC members' council in Riyadh.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting focused on exploring avenues for cooperation between the IDC and FAO, aiming to bolster sustainable agricultural development initiatives within the framework of global food security. The discussions also aimed at implementing existing agreements between the two organizations.

Both parties considered enhancing their collaboration in research and technical projects to develop value chains within the dates sector. The dialogue also included leveraging FAO's expertise in logistical and technical aspects, such as agricultural extension development and improving efficiency in standards for imports and exports.

Furthermore, the meeting emphasized the importance of adhering to international technical requirements to boost the competitiveness of dates in global markets.
