Riyadh: The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) announced that it will launch the third, enhanced edition of its multilingual Data and Artificial Intelligence Glossary. The launch is scheduled to take place during the Global AI Summit (GAIN), to be held in Saudi Arabia this September. The glossary is set to be approved by all of ICESCO's 53 member states.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the launch is part of a strategic partnership between ICESCO's Center of Foresight and Artificial Intelligence, the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL), and the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA). The collaboration aims to strengthen international efforts to promote the Arabic language in advanced technology fields.
The updated edition of the glossary reviews existing definitions, incorporates emerging terms in data and AI, and enhances terminological consistency across Arabic, English, and French. It will provide a thematic structure to facilitate access to content across different application areas, while supporting digital access through the development of a companion app and online resources.
The implementation will follow a phased approach, including planning and scoping, then enrichment and scientific and linguistic review, followed by production and digital development, and finally approval and official launch, all within an institutional framework ensuring content quality and sustainable impact.
