NCW lauds Sisi’s decision to appoint Ahwany as CBE board member

Head of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi lauded a decision by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to appoint former minister of international cooperation Naglaa el Ahwany as member in the board of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

In a statement on Sunday 5/1/2020, Morsi said that Sisi’s selection of Ahwany for the post reflects his continuous support to the Egyptian women in the different institutions of the state.

Naglaa el Ahwany served in many posts including as deputy director of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES) and as adviser with the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt), the International Labor Organization (ILO) office in Cairo and the Economic Community of West African States (ECWAS).

She is the author of several studies on informal labor and rural development issues. In addition to serving as Director of the European Studies Center at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University, she was also a member of the National Council for Women’s economic committee.
