Human Resources Ministry Mandates 70% Saudization in Project Management Roles

Riyadh: The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, has announced a strategic initiative to increase the Saudization rate for project management roles within the private sector to 70%, commencing on February 14, 2027. This move is an integral part of the ministry's broader strategy to bolster the Saudization of specialized professions, thereby enhancing the engagement of national talent in the workforce.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this directive will require all private-sector firms employing three or more individuals in the specified project management roles to adhere to the 70% Saudization mandate. The roles impacted by this decision encompass project management manager, project management engineer, and project management specialist, as classified under the Saudi Standard Classification of Occupations. The mandate applies uniformly to all relevant establishments as outlined in the procedural guide provided by the ministry.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has made available a comprehensive procedural guide on its official website, detailing all aspects of the decision. This guide includes specifics on the professions targeted, the mechanisms for implementation, methods for calculating Saudization rates, and the compliance obligations for employers. This publication aims to facilitate private-sector establishments in understanding and fulfilling the requirements of the new Saudization policy.
