General

Riyadh: Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmed Al-Rajhi, who also serves as Chairman of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, has announced the implementation of the Occupational Fitness and Non-Communicable Diseases Examinations Regulation. The initiative is designed to facilitate early detection of non-communicable diseases, improve workplace health, and minimize occupational injuries and diseases.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the regulation aims to enhance workers' health by instituting early preventive medical examinations and elevating both physical and psychological fitness levels. It encompasses pre-employment, periodic, and exceptional medical examinations specifically tailored to high-risk professions to ensure that employees are capable of performing their duties safely and effectively. The regulation also seeks to standardize medical examination processes based on the unique requirements of each profession.

The introduction of this regulation is expected to lead to a reduction in occupational injuries and accidents. By creating comprehensive health databases, the regulation will support decision-makers in enhancing preventative oversight, thereby fostering more efficient and safe work environments.

The National Council for Occupational Safety and Health remains committed to bolstering compliance with national standards and international conventions, thereby maintaining and improving the Kingdom's standings in global occupational safety and health metrics.
