Riyadh: HUMAIN, a Public Investment Fund company focused on developing comprehensive artificial intelligence capabilities, has introduced HUMAIN Chat, a novel Arabic conversational AI application powered by the ALLaM 34B, HUMAIN's flagship Arabic large language model.

According to Saudi Press Agency, HUMAIN Chat is now available on web, iOS, and Android platforms, with its initial launch in Saudi Arabia marking a national milestone. The regional rollout across the Middle East and an impending global expansion are on the horizon. Designed in Saudi Arabia for Arabic speakers, HUMAIN Chat aims to enhance linguistic inclusivity and cultural representation in the AI sector.

HUMAIN Chat targets over 400 million Arabic speakers and 2 billion Muslims worldwide who have been overlooked by generative AI technologies. The platform allows users to create, learn, and communicate in their native language and cultural context.

ALLaM 34B, the driving force behind the app, seeks to bridge the digital divide and promote linguistic equality. The app offers culturally attuned responses, incorporating real-time web searches for updated information, Arabic speech input across dialects, bilingual conversation capabilities, and conversation sharing for collaboration. It complies with Saudi PDPL and is hosted on HUMAIN's infrastructure within the Kingdom.

HUMAIN's CEO, Tareq Amin, highlighted the significance of the launch, stating it as a source of national pride and a step towards building sovereign AI that is both advanced and culturally resonant. He emphasized the role of Saudi talent in developing technologies that are globally competitive yet rooted in local language and values.

The ALLaM 34B model builds on previous iterations developed by the National Center for AI under the Saudi Data and AI Authority's mandate. It has been independently validated by Cohere as the most advanced Arabic LLM crafted in the Arab world. The model's performance is set to improve with user engagement post-launch.

Trained using one of the largest Arabic datasets and refined by over 600 domain experts, ALLaM 34B offers unparalleled fluency in Arabic and alignment with cultural nuances. The team behind the model consists of over 120 AI specialists, including 35 PhD holders, with an equal gender representation, showcasing Saudi Arabia's emerging leadership in AI.

The launch of HUMAIN Chat is a call to action for Saudi citizens to engage with the platform, thereby contributing to its development as a leading Arabic AI solution. The initiative aims to provide an Arabic-first AI solution that serves the region and eventually the world, with plans for a broader rollout soon.
