Riyadh: At the invitation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the GCC-USA Summit was held in Riyadh, co-chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and President Donald J. Trump of the United States.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the summit began with commemorative photos and a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. HRH the Crown Prince delivered an opening address, highlighting the longstanding relationship and strategic partnership between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and the United States. He emphasized the commitment to collective action in strengthening relations, expanding strategic partnerships, and achieving the aspirations of both nations and their peoples.
The summit revisited the significance of enhancing the security of GCC countries, combating terrorism, and addressing regional and international challenges. It also discussed the importance of economic partnerships and trade cooperation, with the trade volume between GCC countries and the US expected to reach approximately $120 billion in 2024.
HRH the Crown Prince outlined the vision for achieving sustainable development goals in a stable environment and expressed intent to work collaboratively with President Trump and GCC countries to de-escalate regional tensions, end the war in Gaza, and seek solutions to the Palestinian cause in line with the Arab Peace Initiative.
The Kingdom reiterated its commitment to fostering dialogue among Yemeni parties for a political solution and efforts to end the Sudan crisis through the Jeddah platform. The Crown Prince commended President Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Syria, which is expected to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
Furthermore, the summit highlighted support for institutional reforms in Lebanon, the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India, and efforts toward a political solution for the Ukrainian crisis.
