Heavy Rains Trigger Evacuation Orders in Southwestern US States

Baghdad:Washington A powerful storm brought heavy rainfall on Sunday to parts of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah, which were still recovering from devastating floods. Meteorologists reported that the storm unleashed heavy rain across the southwestern United States, prompting authorities to issue evacuation orders in some areas and raising the threat of flash flooding through Monday.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the greatest risk was expected across parts of Arizona, southern Utah, southwestern Colorado, and western New Mexico, where much of the region was still recovering from recent devastating floods.

The Weather Prediction Center warned that continued heavy rainfall over already saturated ground could lead to rapid runoff, increasing the risk of renewed flash flooding, particularly in steep terrain, narrow canyons, stream channels, and areas affected by wildfires.
