Riyadh: The Ministry of Health's branch in Northern Borders Region launched the activities of World Breastfeeding Week at Othaim Mall in Arar, with the participation of the Public Health Authority (Weqaya), the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, and the Hayat Breast Cancer Association today.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the activities featured an awareness and educational campaign targeting mothers and the wider community to highlight the importance of breastfeeding and its health benefits for mothers, children, and the environment. The campaign also provided guidance on overcoming challenges faced by breastfeeding mothers and responded to attendees' inquiries.

Breast milk is considered the 'first vaccine' for infants, containing natural antibiotics that help boost immunity. Educational brochures were distributed to promote health awareness.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Health's continuous efforts to promote a culture of breastfeeding and encourage its practice, aiming to improve health outcomes for both mothers and children.
