The Law of Practicing Healthcare Professions outlines these restrictions to uphold professional integrity.
The regulation of private health institutions is equally stringent, with advertising only permissible under certain conditions defined by executive regulations and professional ethics. This measure aims to ensure transparency and credibility in the healthcare services provided to the public.
Pharmaceutical regulations mandate that products must be registered with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority before circulation. Advertisements for pharmaceutical and herbal products are closely monitored to prevent misleading claims, and it is illegal to sell, dispense, or possess unregistered products for commercial purposes.
The Ministry of Health has warned of severe penalties for non-compliance with these regulations, including fines up to SAR10 million, imprisonment for up to 10 years, and potential closure and revocation of licenses for offending practitioners and institutions.
