Riyadh: The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has announced the completion of its operational preparations for the Haramain High-Speed Railway during Ramadan 1446 AH, with a significant increase in the number of trips and seats to facilitate the movement of Umrah performers between Makkah and Madinah and to provide a more comfortable and seamless travel experience.

According to Saudi Press Agency, SAR revealed its operational plan in collaboration with the Saudi-Spanish Consortium, the operator of the Haramain High-Speed Railway, which includes 3,410 trips during the Ramadan season-an increase of more than 21 percent compared to 1445 AH. The plan also includes offering approximately 1.6 million seats, marking an 18 percent increase over the previous year, enhancing the railway's capacity to accommodate the high demand during the holy month.

SAR stressed that daily operations will begin with 100 trips per day during the first week of Ramadan, gradually rising to 120 trips per day by Ramadan 14. During peak operational days, the number will reach 130 trips per day, ensuring greater flexibility for the movement of Umrah performers. The train schedule has also been organized to align with prayer times, allowing Umrah performers to carry out their rituals easily and without hassle.

The railway is one of the ten fastest in the world, operating at a speed of 300 km/h on a 453-kilometer rail line connecting Makkah, Jeddah, King Abdulaziz Airport, King Abdullah Economic City, and Madinah. It provides a modern and fast mode of transportation for pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors.

This initiative aligns with the directives of the Saudi leadership to continuously improve the pilgrims' experience by enhancing service integration and boosting the railway's operational readiness.
