Riyadh: The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) and other Gulf meteorological centers warned against suspicious and unlicensed applications broadcasting weather and climate forecasts for Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, noting that the Kingdom is not affected by tropical cyclones due to its location on semi-enclosed seas, and that observed phenomena are generally associated with weather effects, particularly rainfall.
According to Saudi Press Agency, reports issued in this regard stressed the importance of relying on information from officially authorized entities, avoiding rumors and misleading information, and verifying news through official channels.
The NCM clarified that claims circulating on social media about the Kingdom being affected by hurricanes in the coming days are inaccurate, urging the public to rely on official sources only and follow weather alerts while adhering to the guidelines of relevant authorities to ensure everyone’s safety.
The NCM forecast that rainfall will peak on Thursday, with moderate to heavy rain expected across most regions of the Kingdom, along with notably active dusty winds and the possibility of hail in some locations. The NCM stated that weather impacts will intensify across several regions, including Makkah, Madinah, Al-Baha, and Aseer, as well as parts of the Eastern Region, where heavier rainfall accompanied by strong winds is expected leading to reduced visibility.
