Riyadh: The Senior Scholars Council, led by Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh, convened its 96th session at the General Presidency of Islamic Research and Ifta headquarters in Riyadh. Council members and the secretary general were in attendance.
According to Saudi Press Agency, in his opening address, Al Al-Sheikh emphasized the support provided by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to the Senior Scholars Council. This support has enabled thorough examination of matters referred to the council and the issuance of appropriate Sharia rulings.
Al Al-Sheikh extended his congratulations to the council members on the royal trust placed in them, marking the start of the council's new formation. He praised the blessings bestowed upon Saudi Arabia, attributing the nation's unity and prosperity to its foundation on the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed. He acknowledged the security and stability achieved since the era of the late King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, which continues under the present leadership.
He further recognized the benefits enjoyed by Saudi citizens and residents, including security and development as a result of wise leadership based on the nation's enduring constitution. This foundation upholds justice under Sharia, supports Islam and Muslims, and honors the service to the Two Holy Mosques. The Grand Mufti also reaffirmed the Kingdom's steadfast stance on the Palestinian cause, advocating for the Palestinian people's right to an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Al Al-Sheikh praised the ongoing achievements of Saudi Vision 2030, which contribute to prosperity and global humanitarian efforts. He highlighted the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's recognized international initiatives and lauded the Kingdom's high standards in transparency, integrity, and anti-corruption efforts, issues strongly addressed in Islamic teachings.
