Gov’t communication minister gives briefing on general policy draft

Minister of Government Communication Faisal Shboul on Tuesday briefed the Chairman of the Economic and Social Council (ESC) Musa Shteiwi on a general policy draft for media and government communication ahead of a dialogue session on the draft that the council will hold during the coming period. During the meeting, Shboul stated that the general policy draft for media and government communication was prepared by the ministry based on the administrative organization system according to which the ministry was established, explaining that this draft will serve to support the programs and initiatives of the three modernization tracks (political, economic and administrative) and protect society from hate speech, violation of privacy and false news. The upcoming dialogue session, he revealed, will bring together partners, experts and specialists, indicating that the draft will be published on the ESC’s website ahead of time. He pointed out the importance of taking into account the current environment and the extent of the financial distress that the media is experiencing as a result of the decline in the advertising market, which was dominated by social media platforms. In turn, Shteiwi said that the council will develop a detailed plan on managing the dialogue session on the general policy of media and government communication, hailing the role of the Ministry of Government Communication in preparing the document and cooperating with the council to launch dialogue and discussion with partners and specialists.
