Government Entities Implement Over 4,000 Initiatives to Enhance Expenditure Efficiency

Riyadh: Expenditure efficiency teams in government entities have carried out over 4,000 initiatives aimed at improving government expenditure planning from 2019 to 2024. These initiatives encompass sectors such as education, health, finance, industry, sports, and human resources, leading to several national success stories that directly benefit citizens.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Madinah Region, in cooperation with the Government Expenditure and Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO), has implemented initiatives to enhance expenditure quality and improve services for residents and visitors. This effort resulted in a 66% resident satisfaction rate with quality of life, a reduction in project stalling to less than 1%, and increased facility compliance rates to 94% in 2024.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contributed by developing 40 expenditure efficiency indicators and documenting 27 initiatives on EXPRO's platform, with an estimated financial impact of SAR1.7 billion. Their digital transformation initiative for Hajj and Umrah visas led to the launch of an electronic system for various visas in 2024.

The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has enabled more than 180 entities to transition to the 'Deem Cloud,' significantly improving operational efficiency and reducing costs, with a financial impact exceeding SAR5 billion.

King Saud University Medical City launched the 'Share Event' initiative, showcasing projects that enhance operational efficiency. Since 2020, over 400 projects have been presented, generating an estimated financial impact of SAR500 million, including the 'Automated Accreditation of Laboratory Results' initiative.

The Public Health Authority (Weqaya) and the Ministry of Health collaborated on the National Newborn Early Screening Program, significantly improving children's health and reducing treatment costs for late-diagnosed cases by 56%, saving an estimated SAR2 billion.

King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre documented 70 initiatives, achieving a financial impact of SAR13 billion and improving organ transplantation rates. The establishment of a Capacity Command Center further enhanced efficiency, reducing patient wait times by 33%.

In the Eastern Region, an integrated work model for project budgeting achieved a sustainable financial impact of SAR7.6 billion.

EXPRO has launched the 'Evolution of Tradition' campaign to promote the role of expenditure efficiency teams. It has prepared manuals and organized workshops to foster expenditure efficiency practices and raise awareness across government entities.
