The General Food Security Authority (GFSA) has granted the fourth tender to import 307,000 tons of wheat for this year. The wheat is sourced from the European Union, North and South America, Australia, and the Black Sea.

GFSA Governor Ahmad Al-Fares said in a statement issued today that this shipment will help the endeavor to maintain strategic wheat reserves at safe levels and fulfill milling companies’ requirements.

He added that the fourth contracted batch is scheduled to arrive between December 2024 and January 2025, aboard five ships; two ships, carrying 127,000 tons, will dock at Jeddah Islamic Port, two others, with 125,000 tons, will head to Yanbu Commercial Port, and one ship, designated to deliver 55,000 tons, to Jazan Port.

A total of 15 international companies specializing in grain trade competed for the required quantity; three companies earned the contract due to their competitive pricing and compliance with specifications.
