Madrid: The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) is participating as a strategic sponsor in the Geospatial World Forum (GWF 2025) being held in Madrid, Spain, from April 22 to 25.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the forum is the most prominent platform for the global geospatial community, where thought and opinion leaders, experts, and specialists in the field of geospatial data and information from different countries of the world will meet to discuss prospects and opportunities for cooperation and investment strategies, ways to support and integrate geospatial technologies, and the future of geospatial information infrastructure, knowledge, and innovation.
GEOSA participation in the forum comes through a special pavilion where it will showcase its experience building and developing the national geospatial infrastructure; governing national geospatial data; preparing its policies, standards, and specifications according to international best practices; sharing its experience in building and developing national geospatial capabilities; enhancing geospatial awareness and knowledge; stimulating research and innovation; maximizing the impact of geospatial information in supporting various sectors and national development fields; and promoting integration between geospatial information and modern technologies to support smart decision-making.
As part of the forum, GEOSA will organize a workshop entitled 'Saudi Arabia's Geospatial Ecosystem,' through which it will review the Kingdom's experience in the concept of the Geospatial Ecosystem and its role in enhancing the impact of geospatial data and its integration with emerging technologies, and the Kingdom's vision of the role that the UN Global Geospatial Ecosystem Center of Excellence will achieve in this regard. The United Nations already approved Riyadh to be the center's headquarters.
In addition to participating in the panel session 'Geospatial Law and Policy: Possible Regulatory Frameworks for Data Governance, Privacy Protection, and Integration of Artificial Intelligence Technologies' with a presentation titled 'The Kingdom's Experience in Geospatial Law,' GEOSA participated in the same forum with a presentation titled 'The Kingdom's Activities and Innovations in Hydrographic Surveying.'
GEOSA regulates the surveying, geospatial information, and imaging sector in the Kingdom, including coordination and cooperation with its counterparts in other countries and international bodies and organizations related to the sector, and represents the Kingdom internally and externally regarding its mandates.
