GEOSA Holds 20 Workshops to Promote National Geospatial Governance

Riyadh: The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) held 20 awareness workshops for understanding national geospatial governance and enabling relevant entities to actively contribute to its implementation in order to achieve its intended objectives.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the workshops introduced the concept to more than 100 entities from the public and private sectors, in addition to the academic and nonprofit sectors, as well as several specialists and interested individuals. Over 1,200 participants attended the workshops.

These regulatory documents aim to strengthen the efficiency of geospatial information management in the Kingdom and boost its contribution to supporting and enabling various national sectors and development fields. They also seek to enhance information exchange, ensure governance and protection, improve quality, increase reliability, and promote effective use in alignment with modern technologies. This initiative is part of the authority's broader efforts to regulate the processes of collecting, sharing, preserving, updating, and pricing geospatial information through the National Geospatial Platform. It also continues GEOSA's mission to build and develop national geospatial infrastructure and govern geospatial data according to the best international practices.
