Geneva Summit Highlights Saudi Leadership in AI Governance, Responsible Use

Riyadh: During a session at the AI for Good Global Summit 2025 in Geneva, the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) showcased the AI Readiness Framework, which it launched in collaboration with the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at the third Global Artificial Intelligence Summit (GAIN) held in Riyadh in 2024. The session drew participants from many countries.

According to Saudi Press Agency, SDAIA Administration of Studies General Manager Mohammed Alawad and SDAIA Strategic Partnerships and Indices General Manager Rehab Alarfaj took part in the session, spotlighting Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in the governance and development of artificial-intelligence (AI) technologies. They emphasized the Kingdom's contributions to enhancing international cooperation, solidifying its status as a reliable and influential global reference in AI.

They highlighted several pioneering national initiatives in AI, including the EYENAI project, an advanced medical solution for the precise diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy with AI. The project marks a significant milestone in the Kingdom's healthcare journey, leveraging cutting-edge AI capabilities.

Furthermore, they underscored Saudi Arabia's efforts in launching the AI Readiness Framework, which embodies the Kingdom's commitment to supporting the safe and responsible use of AI technology. The initiative reinforces Saudi Arabia's leadership in developing AI systems that promote sustainable development and establish its position as a global reference in this vital sector.
