Tourism minister highlights hosting significant tourist events 2020

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled el Anani said on Sunday 2/2/2020 that Egypt will witness two significant tourism events this year; namely the transfer of royal mummies to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Speaking to MENA, Anani said that three companies out of 24 were chosen to organize the 12-day opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, slated for the 4th quarter of 2020.

Special halls at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat were allocated to house the 22 royal mummies, scheduled to be transferred from the Egyptian Museum in Downtown Cairo, he noted.

Anani said that a presentation would be screen at the main hall of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in coincidence with the transfer of royal mummies, narrating the most important features of the Egyptian civilization.

Coordination is underway among all state bodies to revamp the Tahrir Square and Sour Magra el Oyoun area to put them in the best shape during the transportation of the royal mummies, Anani pointed out.

The minister further noted that a restaurant would be established this month at the Giza pyramid complex to serve visitors for the first time ever.
