Terrorist cell uprooted in desert area

Military Spokesman Colonel Tamer Rifai on Saturday said that the Armed Forces and civil police uprooted a terrorist cell in the desert area in western the country. In a statement, Military Spokesman Colonel Tamer Rifai said that the cell included eight members of the dangerous terrorist elements.

The operation was launched according to accurate intelligence information in cooperation with the national security sector, he added.

According to the received information, the cell was planning to commit hostile acts that are aimed at destabilizing the country, he pointed out, noting that other terrorists were arrested during the operation and three vehicles and an arms cache were destroyed.

The Armed Forces and civil police will continue their efforts for uprooting terrorism to preserve the security and stability of the country, he added.
