Makram: ‘Survival Boats’ initiative confronting illegal migration

Minister of State for Emigration Nabila Makram said Tuesday 11/2/2020 the ‘Survival Boats’ initiative, launched by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, has contributed to the success of combating illegal migration along Egyptian shores.

Egypt’s efforts in this respect have been greatly praised, she said in an exclusive interview with MENA Board Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Ali Hassan.

The ‘Egypt Can’ conferences have restored the confidence of Egyptian investors abroad in the homeland as they found a new investment atmosphere, a new investment law, a unit for Egyptian investors abroad inside the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) and a political leadership that directs the government to be credible and to open all closed doors, she said.

The ministry has so far implemented around 18 programs for second and third generation Egyptian expatriates to teach them the Egyptian national security concepts, get them acquainted with challenges facing the Egyptian state and raise their awareness against parties that wish to negatively change their ideas, the minister said.

The minister explained that the state is not against migration but against doing it illegally. Those who wish to travel or migrate should be well-trained and rehabilitated and very much aware of his/her rights and duties to avoid any abuse abroad.
